Designed by architect Harm Cornelis Winters, the original structure of Huize Ebbenerve was completed around 1873-1875. It was commissioned by Gerhard Focko Servatius, a retired naval captain who became a prominent local figure. In 1895, the house changed hands to Hendrik Gerard van Holthe tot Echten and Constantia Johanna Anna Christina barones van der Feltz, marking the beginning of a new chapter in its storied existence.
