Although the original architect remains a mystery, many attribute the design to the renowned Baroque architect Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer, due to its striking resemblance to his other works in Vienna and Prague. The church was finally consecrated in 1773 by Bishop Ignác Batthyány, and its interior was continuously enhanced until the end of the 18th century.
