Its most striking feature is the 130-foot spire, which was designed to be visible from all over Low Harrogate. The church is constructed from rusticated gritstone ashlar, with intricate details such as buttresses, pairs of gargoyles, and twelve sculpted heads of historical figures on the south wall. One of the church's most distinguished visitors was Tsarina Alexandra of Russia, who worshipped there during her visits to Harrogate in 1894 and 1911. Her presence added a touch of royal prestige to the church's history.
In 1972, the church was renamed West Park United Reformed Church, following the amalgamation of Presbyterians, Congregationalists, and Churches of Christ. The church has continued to evolve, with significant modernizations taking place over the years. In 1993, the pulpit was removed, and the sanctuary was adapted for use by drama and music groups. The Communion table was moved to the center of the dais, and the organ was rebuilt. Accessibility improvements were made in 1999, including the addition of an outside ramp along the southern wall.
The church also boasts beautiful stained glass windows, including two First World War memorials depicting St. Michael with St. George and David and Jonathan. Other memorials include plaques dedicated to John Peel Clapham, who chaired the building committee, and Reverend John H. Gavin, the church's first minister.
