The church we see today was constructed between 1956 and 1957, designed by the Kassel architect Josef Bieling. The first groundbreaking took place on August 15, 1956, and the foundation stone was laid by Dechant Heinrich Becker on September 23, 1956. The consecration of the church and altar was performed by Fulda's auxiliary bishop Adolf Bolte on August 25, 1957.
