In 1881, the estate changed hands and was purchased by Mathilde Amalie Baumgartner, who transformed the pavilion into a neoclassical villa in 1884. The villa, later named Villa Rosenfels, became a focal point of the estate. Over the years, the property saw several ownership changes and faced the threat of being parceled off. However, public resistance and economic challenges prevented this, and in 1943, during World War II, the remaining land, villa, and park were acquired by the city of Lörrach.
