This 1.19-hectare plot, valued at nearly half a million litas, was generously donated by Gintaras Vilutis, a local businessman and head of a construction company in Marijampolė. The new church, envisioned to be built with donations and support from the Marijampolė municipality, would stand alongside a wooden chapel, which would remain as an adoration chapel and a venue for small gatherings and special occasions.

A Gift from Germany

The temporary place of worship for the parish came as a generous gift from the Catholic community of Lastrup, a town in Lower Saxony, Germany. This chapel, originally named the Chapel of Mary Queen, had served the local faithful in Germany for only a couple of years before the community's plans for a spiritual center were halted. The St. Joseph Foundation, which had taken over the chapel, decided to donate it to a deserving Catholic parish, thanks to the suggestion of Clemens Rottinghaus, a Marijampolė honorary citizen residing in Germany.

The entire chapel was meticulously dismantled and transported to Lithuania, including its structural frame, roof, benches, altar, paintings, internal windows, interior finishes, balcony supports, stairs, and sacristy furniture. By May 2013, the foundations were laid on J. Ambrazevičiaus-Brazaičio Street, and by May 2014, the parishioners gathered for the first time for the May Devotions. The chapel was officially consecrated on October 21, 2014, and has since served the community while the construction of the new church continues.
