The museum's current home is a historic building dating back to the 17th century. Over the years, it has undergone various transformations, including a neoclassical makeover in 1850 and the addition of an Art Nouveau bay window in 1898. Between 1996 and 2003, the museum underwent significant renovations to enhance its facilities and services. Subsequent phases saw the addition of new exhibition rooms, an audiovisual space, administrative offices, and a library.
