Students from Oss played an integral role in conceptualizing the Dutch texts inscribed on the monument, which were unveiled on April 11, 2003. Location and Design

Situated in a serene residential area on Prof. Regoutstraat, the monument stands prominently in a small park between apartment buildings, directly across from the primary school De Nieuwe Link. The monument's design is both striking and thought-provoking. It features a curved brick structure adorned with seven natural stone panels. The curvature of the structure is 3 meters high, 9.9 meters wide, and 2.3 meters deep. In front of this curved wall stands a 4-meter high, 9-meter wide, and 1-meter-deep stainless steel arch. This arch comprises two curved and twisted pipes, each 10.8 meters long with a diameter of 16 centimeters, connected by small bars 50 centimeters long and 2 centimeters in diameter.

The abrupt end of the arch symbolizes the sudden end of the lives of soldiers and resistance fighters. It also represents the fast-paced nature of the times we live in and the unexpected turns we encounter. The seven panels on the monument stand for various forms of freedom, with the central panel dedicated to Titus Brandsma, depicted in the clothing of the Amersfoort concentration camp, highlighting his significant role and sacrifice.
